James Robson MBE was the team doctor for the Scotland national rugby union team. He worked as a physiotherapist and general practitioner and, as part of the medical team, has been to six Rugby World Cups with the Scotland team and on six British & Irish Lions tours. James was a GP in Dundee for many years. His practice was the first one to invest in an ultrasound machine on which echocardiograms were done by GPs. James has also presented within Tayside at several Clinical Meetings over the years. We very much think of James as one of our own! James’ wife, Christine, worked as a GP in Dundee and was the Dundee GP Rep on the Cardiovascular MCN (Managed Clinical Network) under the aegis of Professor Stuart Pringle.
What’s the connection with SHARP? Well, I was the Angus GP Rep on the MCN and I had the pleasure of working with Christine. In addition, I keep bumping into James whenever I’m officiating at Murrayfield. James always has a smile and warm words to impart. Through James’ work in health & with Scottish Rugby/British Lions, he already supports our SHARP values & ethics. We are delighted that James has agreed to become a SHARP Patron, so that he can inspire, help educate &spread the reach of the work that SHARP does.
