2025 SHARP Prize Success

We are pleased to provide an update from our SHARP Prize 2025 winner, Gregor Trickett, a ScotGEM student at the University of St Andrews.

Gregor recently won Best Poster Presentation and has used his SHARP Prize funding to purchase practical clinical equipment and study resources for himself and fellow authors, Brendan Harrison and Rhiannon Freireich.

The funding enabled the purchase of:

  • 3 × MediPro Aneroid Sphygmomanometers

  • 3 × Blue Dot CPR Pocket Face Masks (with case)

  • 3 × Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine

  • 3 × Arclight Ophthalmoscope-Loupe-Otoscopes with specula

Gregor, the leading author and presenter, explained:

“We’re a group of three medical students coming up to being halfway through our degree programme. The equipment purchased is used regularly in practice, so having access to this allows us to practise in our spare time and feel confident when using it in exam scenarios and, more importantly, with patients. The clinical handbook will be a great resource for preparing for our upcoming exams and is also small enough that we’ll be able to use it on our placements.”

It is wonderful to see SHARP funding making such a direct impact on clinical skills development and supporting the next generation of doctors.
