Applications for the 2025 SHARP Summer Studentship Programme are now closed.

SHARP Summer Studentship Bursary Programme
Scottish Heart and Arterial Risk Prevention (SHARP) offers an annual Summer Studentship Bursary Programme for medical students at Scottish universities.
The aim of this funding is to support students in undertaking clinical or pre-clinical research in any area of Cardiovascular Medicine during the summer break. The programme is designed to help students develop academically, gain valuable research experience, and strengthen their future career prospects.
A bursary of £1,600 is awarded to each successful applicant.
The project may extend beyond the summer vacation period; however, the funding amount remains fixed.
The bursary is not intended to support standard degree coursework (e.g. BMSc).
Applications for ongoing projects requiring additional support are also welcomed.
Students are expected to:
Apply jointly with a supervisor, providing a clear outline of the proposed research, timelines, and expected outcomes.
Submit a short report (250 words) upon completion of the project.
Present their findings at the SHARP Annual Meeting.
Acknowledge SHARP’s support in all resulting research outputs.
